The Fountain of Youth (and the Constant Trip to the Loo)
Share
Let's be honest, ladies. We're chasing that elusive fountain of youth, and we've been told the secrets: drink gallons of water and slather on the moisturiser like there's no tomorrow. And you know what? It works! My skin is glowing, my wrinkles are practically nonexistent (okay, maybe slightly less existent), and I feel like I could run a marathon (if I weren't so busy running to the bathroom).
Yes, the downside to this quest for eternal radiance? I'm pretty sure I've single-handedly kept the public restroom industry afloat. I know every toilet within a five-mile radius. I can tell you the best places to find a clean facility, the ones with the softest toilet paper, and the ones to avoid at all costs (seriously, bring your own wipes).
My bladder has become a finely tuned instrument, capable of detecting even the slightest hint of liquid intake. I'm like a human divining rod, but instead of water, I'm finding the nearest loo. My friends have started placing bets on how long I can go between bathroom breaks. It's a thrilling life, I tell you.
And then there's the moisturizing. I'm practically swimming in lotions and creams. My hands are so slick, I can barely hold a pen. I leave a trail of fragrant residue wherever I go. My husband says he can track me through the house just by following the scent of shea butter and hyaluronic acid.
But you know what? I wouldn't trade it for the world. Yes, I may spend half my day in the restroom, and yes, I may be perpetually slippery, but my skin? My skin is amazing. It's a testament to the power of hydration and a good moisturizer.
So, to all my fellow mature women out there, embrace the water bottle, embrace the moisturiser, and embrace the frequent bathroom breaks. We may be slightly inconvenienced, but we'll be glowing while we're doing it! And who knows, maybe we'll even discover a hidden gem of a restroom along the way. Stay hydrated, stay moisturised, and stay fabulous!
